Winter is Hoppin'!



Winter and I don’t really get along.   

This one is being especially difficult for all of us here in the mitten.  So, let’s have some laughs and pretend Spring is nearly here!  Are you with me?!

 Stand Up Comedy Workshop
with Robert Jenkins
Beginning Tuesday, March 4 for 4 weeks from 7-9 pm
4 classes, 1 (optional) performance


This concentrated course, led by prize-winning local comedian Robert Jenkins, will focus primarily on joke writing. 

The supportive class format will include assigned readings, weekly review, Robert’s presentation, comic’s presentation and Q & A.

And as an added bonus, one of Rob's comedian friends will come in each week, do a short set and then present on a specific topic -- everything from improvisation and dealing with hecklers to getting started in stand up.

Drawing with Denny O'Meara

 SmittenDust Studio is pleased to have Denny O'Meara teaching a 4-week pencil drawing  class for beginning to intermediate students! 
Have fun exploring basic concepts and guidelines for creating artistic line-based expressions using a pencil.
Learn to use contour line variations, tones and textures to create unique art forms.  Practice shading and perspective techniques to give artwork depth and realism.
Subjects will include still lifes, landscapes and the human form.
Supply list:
18 x 24 drawing pad (400 best Strathmore)
12" ruler or straight edge
6B Staedtler pencil
2H pencil
White eraser
Kneaded eraser
Tape and backer board (optional)
Denny O'Meara has been drawing and creating art most of his life. A graduate of MSU in the Landscape Architecture program, he later taught at LCC for 36 years as a part-time instructor in design and construction.  He also owned and operated a design and build firm for 40 years in the Lansing area.

In his spare time, he acquired a fine arts degree from LCC and loves teaching art!

DATE: Class meets Wednesdays from 6-9 pm
for four weeks: January 15,  22, 29, February 5, 2014
